Meet Lorraine Lovell, Finance Assistant.

Back in business

Lorraine joined PDS after an unexpected career break due to lockdown. She was made redundant from a pet insurance business after five years in January 2020 and put her job search plans on hold during the pandemic, joining the finance team in September 2020. Lorraine’s career has included roles in global businesses with Barclays Bank and Barclaycard as well as keeping up the accounts for her father’s property maintenance business.

Health matters

Lorraine said, “My role in the finance team includes responsibility for the purchase ledger so I spend my time processing supplier invoices, organising the weekly payment run, and setting up new suppliers on the system. It’s a busy role but I love it because I work with a great team of like-minded people who all enjoy food. We all look forward to Team Lunch Tuesdays!

“PDS is a supportive workplace where everyone is appreciated. The business places a great emphasis on the importance of health and wellbeing and has recruited a team of Mental Health champions. As one of the champions myself, my role is to make sure that everyone in the business knows that they always have someone to listen to them and support them with any issues at work or in their home life.”

Sporting success

Outside work, Lorraine enjoys camping weekends away with her balloonist husband’s club, supporting Northampton Saints rugby team, and getting to London to see a musical theatre show as often as she can. Lorraine was proud to have completed the London Marathon just before her milestone 40th birthday, raising £3,000 for the children’s charity Dreams Come True. She has also competed the Brighton Half and Great North Run and is now thinking about getting her running shoes out of retirement once again.
